Trans Women report into the access for NHS Gender Reassignment services

Edinburgh Trans Women assisted an Engender project called “Equality Counting”.   An Engender group was formed from trans women organisations and calledWomen Thinking Trans Issues.”  The group identified the unequal provision of gender reassignment services across NHS health boards.  The group conducted a survey of trans women about their experiences and also interviewed health boards about Equality Impact Assessments.  The results are a report which reveals that gender reassignment services are a postcode lottery for trans women.   June 2011.

About Equality counting

Together they developed and implemented strategies to advocate and action change and hold public service providers to account using participatory action research and equality legislation as tools.  Read the Equality Counting Case Study - Women Thinking Trans Issues
